Rhythm-based Hack'n'Slay Beat Slayer released today

Headphones on, music up and get into the action!

Berlin, Germany - April 4th, 2024 – Today’s release of ByteRockers' Games' new hack'n'slay Beat Slayer marks the launch of a unique beat battle on Steam. The Berlin-based development studio combines roguelite with rhythm gameplay and delivers an exceptional mix of action, captivating sound and exciting narrative. In a dystopian Berlin of the 90s, players plunge into the fray, battling against hordes of robots to the beat of the music. Music takes center stage and plays a central role in the gameplay, as anyone who misses the beat will quickly be booted back to base. Beat Slayer is available now for 19.99 EUR / USD for PC on Steam.

Players slip into the role of music-loving inventor Mia and accompany her on her adventures through the streets of Berlin as she tries to put a stop to the evil machinations of former musician Dietrich. He has brainwashed the whole of Berlin with his monotonous music and is now trying to wipe out the last remaining musical resistance with the help of his robots. The music of Beat Slayer is not only a central aspect of the story, but also directs the gameplay. Attacks must be executed to the beat, as this is the only way to unleash Mia's true potential. And for those who find it difficult to hear the music or stay on time, Beat Slayer also offers various rhythm assistance features so that everyone can enjoy the beat. The electrifying soundtrack that makes Beat Slayer's gameplay so unique was created in cooperation with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra as part of the Live Score Berlin initiative.

This is Beat Slayer:

  • Conquer the streets of Berlin - There's plenty to experience on the dystopian streets of Berlin, from battles against giant robot bosses to numerous smaller, but no less dangerous, clashes.
  • Rhythmic rampage - The robots only really feel Mia's quick-wittedness when she's on the beat. Every blow that is made to the music is stronger and gives her bonuses as long as she keeps the rhythm.
  • Quick feet - Players must be able to decide at lightning speed which of Mia's moves they want to use in battle. A quick dash to avoid an attack, a swift punch combo to eliminate an opponent or an Ultimate to clear the battlefield.
  • Personalized Choreo - With numerous roguelite elements and various playable weapons, players can choose their own playstyle.
  • No Dance Like Another - In classic Roguelite style, players can find power-ups on the streets and underground of Berlin before and during each adventure. From permanent upgrades to different weapons and even special booster smoothies from the base as well as numerous weapon upgrades such as fire, electricity or viruses, guarantee that every run will be unique.

Beat Slayer was supported by the German Games Fund Grant by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.
